January Library Updates

Connect with us as we present Connections: the Mural

The library has always been a fun, vibrant location. Now that’s more evident than ever, with our new mural.

Thanks to the incredible talent and imagination of local artist Katherine Roy, our former tech zone wall is filled with a vivid, bright, playful scene that represents how public libraries connect us all.

We are excited to invite our whole community to a celebration of the mural at the library on Wednesday, January 22 at 5:30pm. Please join us to learn about all the painted elements, meet the artist, and enjoy some light refreshments.  We will also be presenting our new mission statement, vision, and core values at this time.

This is a free event that is open to all.

Cochrane Conversation: Wills and Powers of Attorney

After the success of our last session, local lawyers Dominique Bouchard and Dominique Cheff, both of Beaudoin Boucher, have graciously agreed to return to present another session on the basics of wills and powers of attorney later this month.

Our guests will speak about the importance of having wills and powers of attorney in place, they will touch on some best practices, and they will address some common questions and concerns.  They will also answer as many questions as possible during the session.

Cochrane Conversation: Wills and Powers of Attorney is being held Monday, January 27 at 6:30pm. It is a free session, open to all, that will be held in the gallery in the basement of the gallery in the basement of the library.

New arrivals

All the Colors of the Dark

by Chris Whitaker

In the small town of Monta Clare, Missouri in 1975, girls are disappearing. When the daughter of a wealthy family is targeted, the most unlikely hero emerges—Patch, a local boy with one eye, who saves the girl, and, in doing so, leaves heartache in his wake.
Patch and those who love him soon discover that the line between triumph and tragedy has never been finer. And that their search for answers will lead them to truths that could mean losing one another.

The Wrong Lady Meets Lord Right

by Suzanne Allain

When a young woman trades places with her noble cousin, their innocent ruse leads to true love in this new Regency-era romantic comedy of manners.
When Arabella Grant’s wicked aunt dies suddenly, both Arabella and her cousin Lady Isabelle cannot help but feel relieved. She’d made their lives miserable, and now Lady Issie is free to read to her heart’s content, and Bella is free from taunts about her ignoble birth.

This Girl's a Killer

by Emma C. Wells

Meet Cordelia Black. Cordelia loves exactly three things: her chosen family composed of her best friend Diane and her goddaughter; her hairdresser (worth every penny plus tip); and killing bad men. By day she’s a successful pharmaceutical rep with a pristine reputation and a designer wardrobe. By night she’s culling South Louisiana of unscrupulous men—monsters who always seem to evade justice, until they meet her. It’s a complicated yet fulfilling life that requires complete and total control at all times.

Silent auction - loud results

We are so pleased with the results of our 2024 silent auction; with the help of our community, we will once again be able to use the proceeds of our auction to provide a bursary for students graduating for each of the local high schools in the spring.

Thank you to everyone who donated items for the auction, as well as everyone who participated by placing bids. We also want to give a huge shout out to volunteers Margaret Courville and Christine Mitchell-Kydd, who helped enormously with the organization and execution of the auction.
