Volunteering

at the Cochrane Public Library

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Cochrane Public Library! Whether you are an adult looking to give back to your community or a high school student looking to gain experience, we’d love to have you join our team.

Opportunities

There are a variety of ways to get involved at the library, including those outlined below.

If you have something else in mind, please reach out and let us know how you’d like to help!

Reading Buddies

Get paired with a younger buddy to practice reading or provide homework support. Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 during the school year.

Outreach Delivery

Bring the library to those who are unable to visit by delivering and collecting materials to their homes. As needed.

Tech Support

Provide one-on-one assistance to patrons who need help with their devices. Thursdays from 10am to noon as needed.

Book Sale Room

Help keep our book sale room tidy and organized. Commit as much time as you'd like, on your own schedule.

Program Prep

Help us cut templates, measure ingredients, sort beads, or anything else required to get ready for upcoming programs. As needed.

Program Delivery

Help run March Break programs, summer reading club, special events, and other events where we might need extra hands. As needed.

How to Apply

You can pick up a volunteer application at the library or print one using the link below. Please complete and submit the application to the front desk.

Please note that all adult volunteers (18 and up) must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the Ontario Provincial Police. There is no cost to you. After we have accepted your application, we will provide you with a letter and the instructions necessary to complete this step.
