Library updates

Because you love to stay informed

November

The snow has arrived, and the library is the perfect place to be. As the season changes, drop in to borrow snowshoes, or put an online request in for skis! While it is chilly come on in, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee, and a book. Feel free to take out a puzzle, a board game, or explore our archive collection. The library is ready to host you all winter long!

Kids Programming

Our kids programming has included some local guests this month! We hosted Bear Keeper Storytime, the Polar Bear Habitat sent over staff, and a book from their collection to read. Once Storytime was over the book was donated and added to our collection. We also hosted Storytime with a firefighter, Ashley Malherbe presented to the library, and read a story to the group. Patrons had the opportunity to check out the firetruck at the end and take some fun photos!

We continue to run our After School Club, and tater Tot programs weekly on a drop-in basis. Keep your eyes peeled for some festive programs in December.

Silent Auction

Our annual silent auction runs from November 29th, until December 13th. Proceeds are used for local bursaries. Drop in to see what we have out, and leave your name, number, and bid on interested items. Good treats, for a good cause!

Cookbook Book Club

The cookbook club is preparing for the next potluck; this month we have cookies on the menu. To participate in this lovely program come on by and pick a recipe from our rotating cookbook, take a copy of the recipe you chose, bring it home so you can prepare the dish for our monthly potluck. This is a great way to try new foods, explore a cookbook in one sitting, and find common interests with group members!

Public Archive Hours are available Fridays from 1-4pm

We welcome the community to come in, whether you are looking for a specific occasion, or putting together your family tree, we are happy to now offer this service to the public. Partnering with the historical society, and the archive club, we are happy to now offer regular access to our collection. We house over75 years of local newspapers and currently have an only index to help direct patrons to the edition that may have held an announcement for births, marriages, and deaths.

Cochrane Creates

The library has partnered with the Horticultural society to offer Cochrane Creates: Porch Gnomes. On November 22, 2025, the Library will host, and the Horticultural Society will guide us through our craft. Registration is through the library.

Computer 101

Katie has a program running aimed to teach the very fundamentals of computers. She starts with the basic terminology, and after 8 weeks you will be exploring what social media is. The program has been a success, as it wraps up it’s first group we are looking at way to evolve the program to include phones, and tablets.

Home Alone

We hosted two Home Alone Courses this year with suc. Up next will be our Babysitting course, keep your eyes peeled for dates!

Winter Hours

As of November, the Library will only be open until 7PM, on Thursdays or if otherwise advertised.
