Strategic plan finalized
The Cochrane Public Library has a new Strategic Plan.
The plan, which has been in development since August of last year, was approved by the Cochrane Public Library Board at its February meeting. It introduces a refreshed vision for the library’s identity and lays out a clear roadmap to guide it staff and board from now through to 2030.
“I’m thrilled about this new plan; it represents a huge step forward in serving our community,” says library CEO Jessica Horne.
At its core, the strategic plan focuses on providing better access, more opportunities, and stronger connections to everyone in the community.
Over the next five years, the library will work toward four strategic priorities: community engagement and outreach, facility and space optimization, expansion of resources, and cultural enrichment and preservation.
“Each of these priorities will help ensure the library continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community, providing better services, stronger partnerships, and a space where everyone belongs,” says Horne.
The ultimate goal is to meet the library’s lofty vision, she adds: to enrich every community member’s life through collaboration and innovation.
The library will begin implementing the plan by allocating resources, setting timelines, and creating detailed operational action plans. Continuous monitoring will ensure that the plan stays on track, with regular updates to the community on our progress and challenges.
The strategic plan was developed with the support of the Ontario Library Service at no cost to the library, with input from the Cochrane Public Library Board, staff, and community members to ensure it reflects the needs of the entire community.
