June Library Updates

It's time to read around the world

This summer, young readers are invited on a globe-trotting adventure—no plane ticket required! The TD Summer Reading Club is back, and this year’s theme, Around the World, invites kids to explore new cultures, stories, and traditions from every corner of the map.

Each week, the library will “visit” a different country through books, crafts, and activities. From Japanese sushi to Brazilian rhythms, children will get a taste of the world while keeping their reading skills sharp all summer long.

The TD Summer Reading Club is free, bilingual, and open to kids of all ages. Each participant receives a reading notebook, stickers, and access to prizes throughout the summer. Kids can read anything they like—comics, chapter books, magazines, or audiobooks—and track their progress at their own pace.

The Club will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 1:30pm from July 2 to August 14. There will also be a final party on Friday, August 15. Register now or drop in to any program to get involved.

Join the Thursday Murder Puzzle Club—If You Dare...

Love a good whodunit? Enjoy flexing your puzzle-solving skills? Drop in for the Thursday Murder Puzzle Club, where armchair detectives team up to crack a mystery from the delightfully clever book Murder Most Puzzling.

Each week in June, participants will work together to unravel clues, untangle alibis, and catch the culprit! It’s a fun, casual way to exercise your brain, meet fellow mystery lovers, and test your logic skills in a collaborative setting.

No registration needed—just drop in, grab a case file, and join the investigation.

Speak to Me of Home

by Jeanine Cummins

On her wedding day in 1968, Rafaela leaves Puerto Rico for the American Midwest, unaware of how far she’ll drift from the life she imagined. As Rafaela and Ruth rush to her side, long-buried memories and secrets surface. Speak to Me of Home is a moving, multigenerational story of identity, belonging, and the powerful bonds between mothers and daughters searching for a shared sense of home.
